Dreambert and Bedsmith, two beings from the Pi’illo species, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in an unfamiliar house in an unfamiliar city, feeling lost and confused. As the panic begins, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He assumes that they passed out the night before while watching television, but before he can explain further, the situation gets even stranger. A being named Starlow, a Star Sprite species, arrives, insisting that she is their girlfriend. She says that they had a plan to go out, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of her or any such plans. They reluctantly follow Starlow outside, unaware of what surrounds them. They wander around the city, acting as if they do not recognize their surroundings or Starlow. Despite their confusion, Starlow continues to communicate with them as if they have been friends for a long time. As they are separated, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and names, trying to calm them down. However, Dreambert and Bedsmith remain disoriented and unable to understand their past or their relationship with Starlow. As the day goes on, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned, initially thinking that they are just pretending to forget. However, as their strange behavior continues, she begins to worry that something is wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens, and she wonders if there is something more behind their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house where they first woke up, and Wonky, who still claims to be their father, provides them with a bed that seems unfamiliar to them. Too tired and confused to protest, they settle in for the night. As they fall asleep, their minds are filled with questions about their identities, their pasts, and the cause of their sudden amnesia. The mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered as they drift into a restless sleep, unsure of what the future holds.
